The name of the President’s nominee to Chief Justice, Ahmed Muuthasim Adnan, has been sent to the parliament’s review committee for consideration.

The former Supreme Court Judge was nominated by the Parliament and sent to the parliament yesterday. Under the President’s authority the nomination was sent for counsel from the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) on Tuesday.

JSC released a statement briefing their meeting yesterday stating that the commission has decided to counsel the President to appoint Muuthasim as the Chief Justice.

Following the decision, his name was sent to parliament for approval and sent to the committee today by the Speaker of the Parliament, the former President, Mohamed Nasheed.
