Guraidhoo MP Ghassan Maumoon has stated that the works of PPM will not slow down until their leader and former President Abdulla Yameen is freed.
In a tweet sent out today, Ghassan - who is also the nephew of President Yameen, said that President Yameen was the visionary leader behind bringing the greatest infrastructural development to the Maldives within the span of five years. He added that such a development is unmatched these past 3000 years or so.
Ghassan asserted that President Yameen has been imprisoned under political motivations despite his service to the nation.
However, noting that PPM was a united front he said that they will not stand down until President Yameen was freed and re-elected in 2023 as the President of Maldives.
Criminal Court sentenced President Yameen to five years in jail and a USD 5 million fine for money laundering. He has since been taken to Maafushi Prison, where is to serve his prison time.
