Foreign Minister has revealed that Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid is set to depart to the Finland soon.

The Foreign Ministry said that the Minister will embark on his official visit to Finland coming Thursday. During the visit the Minister is scheduled to meet with his Finnish counterpart as well as the Education Minister.

Discussions on strengthening the ties between the countries are to be held in addition to signing an agreement on air transport. Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto will be leading these discussions.

Finland recognised Maldives on 15 October 1965. Diplomatic relations established on 10 August 1984.
