The world record for most people freediving simultaneously attempted by the Maldives on the occasion of the World Tourism Day has officially been registered on the Guinness Book of World Records.
The event was held at Baros lagoon as part of World Tourism Day celebrations earlier in October. Maldives broke the previous record holder - Verona, Italy with 280 people taking part in the dive with a whopping 521 total participants.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih also participated in the event alongside a large number of visiting tourists.
William Trubridge, a world champion and double world record holding freediver from New Zealand also participated in the event.
