Former Home Minister, Umar Naseer, has said that the Speaker of the Parliament and the former President of the Maldives, Mohamed Nasheed, has put blame on the former Islamic Minister, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed without properly reading the report on the murder of Dr. Afrahim Ali.

Umar said that he has read the 121-page report by the Presidential Commission investigating disappearances and deaths and it contains no suspicion on Dr. Shaheem regarding the murder.

The only suspicion on Dr. Shaheem in the report is that of providing false information, according to the former Home Minister, and if it was true or not, it has no effect on the crime of murder itself.

He said that the report on the Afrashim murder shows that Dr. Shaheem acted in his capacity of the Islamic Minister to resolve a disagreement among religious scholars.

Umar said that before making any comments on any report, it needs to be read and researched. And based on the remarks made by the former President at the parliament, it is clear that he has not read the report.
