Manta Air has begun seaplane operations in the Maldives.
The operations were launched by the Acting Managing Director of the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), Moosa Solih at a special ceremony on Sunday.
Speaking at the ceremony, the CEO of Manta Air, Mohamed Khaleel said that it is a great achievement to come this far and it was with great help from the MACL. He thanked the MACL for providing the space for the seaplane terminal and providing some resources for the operation.
Manta Air has become the third company to operate seaplanes in the Maldives. The company has brought in three planes that are lighter than the ones currently used in the Maldives. To expand their seaplane operations, Manta Air is set to bring in six more planes to join their fleet.
The inaugural flight of the Manta Air seaplane operation was from Velana International Airport to Kandinma Maldives Resort in Dhaalu Atoll.
