Speaker of the Parliament, the former President of the Maldives, Mohamed Nasheed, has inaugurate the Southern Conference.

The parliament administration said that the event is joined by the Atoll Councils of the four main types of fishes being a Japanese national.

The Conference is set to take place in three sessions; the first session will be moderated by the Speaker of the Parliament. The session is set to contain the proposed development by the Laamu Atoll Council.

The second session is set to contain a presentation by the Gaafu Dhaalu atoll to increase revenue in the tourism sector. The session will be moderated by Rifaath Rasheed on behalf of the Tourism Ministry.

Mohamed Naseer Ali, the head of the Gaafu Alifu Atoll Council is set to moderated the third session of the conference. A presentation by the Addu City Council on regional alliance is set to feature in the session.

Every session will have allocated time for members to share thoughts and ideas. And the presentations will be put to vote individually for implementation.

The closing ceremony of the Southern Conference is set to take place at 9 p.m. tonight.
