Statistics from the Maldives Finance and Treasury has estimated that the annual state budget for 2020 to be at MVR 40 billion.

The 2020-2022 fiscal strategy statement states that the state budget next year is estimated at MVR 39.55 billion with a total spending of MVR 37 billion.

While MVR 20 billion is estimated as the baseline recurrent spending next year, baseline capital is estimated at 11.7 billion according to the Ministry.

The Ministry also estimates a baseline profit at MVR 21 billion in 2020.

The fiscal strategy has been submitted to the parliament with these figures and the ministry said that the figures were based up to July 2019. And so, it is likely to change.

While the estimate for the state budget for 2020 is MVR 39.55 billion, the state budget for 2019 is MVR 30 billion.
