The Government will not increase any existing taxes in 2027, with plans to boost revenue through improved tax administration and stronger compliance, Minister of Finance and Public Enterprises Hassan Zareer has said.

Presenting the proposed MVR 59.7 billion State Budget for 2027 to the People’s Majlis, the Minister said the Government aims to increase revenue by closing tax loopholes, improving efficiency and strengthening enforcement of tax laws and regulations.

Measures include expanding the use of the Maldives Guest Information System and introducing a modern e-invoicing system in line with international best practices.

The Government also plans to strengthen revenue policy implementation and compliance by transferring the fiscal mandate of Maldives Customs Service to the Ministry of Finance and Public Enterprises and introducing amendments to tax legislation.
