Maldives Police Service has said that the fire incident at Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhuffushi “Kakaage” early this morning was caused after a group of people set fire to a motorcycle inside the house.

Police said that the fire incident was reported at 4:10 a.m. this morning and when officers arrived at the scene, fire was caught on a pick-up truck and the ceiling of the house.

While the MNDF Fire and Rescue Services controlled the fire, police officers were at the scene to ensure public safety.

Although no one was injured in the fire incident, the house sustained various degrees of fire damage while the adjacent house also was affected by the fire.

Police said that the fire was intentional and although no arrests have been made so far, an investigation is under underway.
