Maldives Immigration has expressed concern over the ferry link to be introduced between India's Cochin and Maldives.
Senior officials of Immigration expressed the concern during a meeting with the parliament committee today, over the issues regarding illegal immigrant workers.
Their biggest concern about the ferry link was the lack of a system to monitor the people who enter the Maldives via a sea route. They noted that even though a border control system was established in 2013, a module is yet to be established for arrivals via sea.
The Immigration asserted that there are no information regarding those who arrive via sea due to these reasons.
