Defence Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi is facing criticism for having her son accompanying during the meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister of United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Saif bin Zayed al Nahyan on her recent visit to UAE.

The people criticizing the Defence Minister say that having the son accompany her in meetings during an official visit must be investigated by the parliament. And raised the question whether the Minister had family members accompany her during the meetings with wealthy figures to create business opportunities for her family.

They have also asked whether Minister Mariya’s son, Affaan, was doing on the visit and whether has security clearance and who bore the cost of travel.

In response to the criticism, the Defence Minister took to Twitter saying that the expenses for the visit for her or her family was not spent by the government. She also said that the government did not arrange the visit.
