Ministry of Arts, Culture and Heritage has said that the renovations of the damaged portion of the minaret at the Male’ Hukuru Miskiy (Friday Mosque) will begin when the weather improves.
The Ministry made the remark after they were tagged on Twitter with a picture of the damages to the minaret. Last night, on Twitter, the Ministry said that they are closely monitoring the damages.
Heritage Ministry said that the restoration will require cement work which is not possible during heavy rain.
While renovations were made to the minaret for the Ramadan, the Ministry said that they will continue to make restorations and renovations to cultural sites.
The original two-story minaret of the Friday Mosque was built by King Iskandhar in 1675. It was renovated by King Shamsudheen in 1906 and 1907 along with the blue paint. And installed speakers on 6 April 1964.
Friday Mosque made the World Heritage Tentative on 12 February 2008.
