Home Minister, Imran Abdulla has said that drug dealers are using children in their trade and advised parents, guardians and teachers to be vigilant.

Talking on Sun TV’s 50 Minute program, Minister Imran said that drug dealers are using very young children. And with drug users becoming younger by the day, parents and teachers need to be more attentive.

Home Minister Imran said that it is a sad fact that Maldives has a high population of drug users.

The Home Minister said that children get an immunity in the justice system which is being exploited by some criminal networks. He said that this exploitation at young age leads to drug use.

Minister Imran said that the community is put at a great risk due to this.

He said that the government is considering lowering the age declared as children to 15.
