Maldives Police Service has said that there was no evidence to prove that the devastating fire in Male' City last Friday night was an act of terror.
Speaking to the Press at the site of the incident, Head of Serious and Organized Crime Department, Superintendent of Police Hassan Shifau revealed that the investigation so far is unable to prove that the incident was an act of terror.
He further noted that the investigation is factoring in all possibilities and added that there were no plans to narrow the investigation as of yet.
He also highlighted that while the institution is carrying out an investigation of such caliber, it was essential to come to the Police with any relevant information instead of talking about it in public.
Speaking further on the fire, he revealed that the reason behind the fire is still unclear and that CCTV and other video footage are now being analyzed as part of the extended investigation.
The fire in a chemical warehouse in Henveiru burnt down four warehouses and seven households.
