Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, Ahmed Mahloof, has said that nothing is more important to the government than the lives and the safety of the people.
In a tweet sent out yesterday, Minister Mahloof said that despite assumptions that the storage of chemicals from the influence of business owners cannot be changed, there is nothing more important to the current government than the safety and protection of the lives of the people.
At the press conference by the Male’ City last night following the massive fire incident at Abadhafehi Magu on Friday night, Mayor Shifa Mohamed said that a special operation will be conducted next week with the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) to inspect all warehouses in the Male’ area.
While a special operation is set to take place, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has called to relocated all chemical warehouses as far away from the public as possible.
The largest fire incident in recent history on Friday night affected seven other buildings from the initial fire casing massive damages and took the life of 46-year-old Aishath Shauna from Thaa Atoll Buruni.
