A foreign man has been stopped during an attempt to enter the Maldives with falsified parts of his passport.

Maldives Immigration said that the man was stopped at Velana International Airport. However, they did not reveal the nationality of the man.

Yesterday, Immigration also stopped a man who presented a falsified report for a work visa. No information was offered in regards to further details on the man either.

Images that has come to light show the man being taken into the custody of Maldives Immigration with assistance from the Maldives Police Service.

While the number of illegal expatriates rise in the Maldives, the Department of Immigration had recently deported two illegal expatriates.

And to address the issue, a multi-institute task force is set to be established by the government.
