The CEO of One Online, Sinaan Ali has been presented with the Diamond Pen presented by the Maldives Media Council to individuals who has done exceptional work in the field of journalism while the Golden Pen was presented to the Deputy Editor of One Online, Ibrahim Zakee (Zakeebe).

The awards were presented at the Journalism Awards ceremony held at Dharubaaruge last night. The Diamond Pen was presented by the President of the Civil Service Commission, Ali Shameem while the award of Golden Pen was presented by the Leader of the Order of Nishan Izzuddeen, Abbas Ibrahim.

Winner of the Diamond Pen this year, Sinaan, began his career in journalism at Miadhu News in 2000 became the Senior Assistant Editor at the newspaper. He wrote as a columnist for daily news Jazeera and the magazine “Huvaas”. Sinaan has been working as the Editor of the University Education Guide since 2005.

He also served ten years as the CEO of the largest media outlet, Sun Media Group, which ran Sun Online, Sun FM, Sun TV and Maldive Islands.

Sinaan received the National Award for his service to Maldivian journalism in 2015.

Golden Pen winner, Zakee has worked a long time in news media; written and radio. After working at Miadhu News as a journalist, he joined Sun Media group and worked for Sun Online and Sun TV where he also filled the position Sun TV Head of News in his ten-year tenure with the company.

He is one of the most experienced journalists in the field writing political and social content.
