President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has urged parents not to force their students to move forward in a specific field.
The President made the statement while speaking during the Top Achievers Awards 2018.
President Solih highlighted that a wide range of courses are now available in Maldives compared to earlier times and that parents and students need to pay more attention to these things. He also spoke on the importance of choosing a career path and progressing accordingly.
As such, he noted that in choosing a career path one should not just consider the dreams of their parents but also weigh in their hopes. He added that it was also important to figure out which field the student is most capable in, and asserted that it was the responsibility of the parents to guide them to the right choice by weighing in these factors instead of forcing them into one.
407 students were recognized for their excellence in studies during the ceremony tonight.
