Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has said that an expatriate man injured in the gas canister explosion last night on the Bestline ship is being treated in the Intensive Care.
The hospital today said that while one is being treated at the ICU, a local man and another expatriate is being treated in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
Maldives Police Service said that seven people were injured last night after a gas canister below deck on board the Bestline ship at the North Harbor.
While, all seven were taken to IGMH following the incident, police said that the people injured are all men of the ages 30, 37, 42, 52 and 67 which includes five locals and two expatriate workers from Bangladesh.
Police said that the investigation so far has revealed that a number of cargo was loaded on top of the gas canisters and leaks from 83 canisters were noted while only one exploded.
As the investigation continues, police have said that the canisters have been returned to their respective companies.
