President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has appointed Uz. Ali Shareef of Eraaf, Laamu Kalaidhoo, as member of the Judicial Services Commission (JSC).

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih presented the letter of appointment to Uz Ali Shareef at a ceremony held this afternoon at the President’s Office, following which the newly appointed member took his oath of office in front of Supreme Court Justice Hon Uz Abdul Ghanee Mohamed.

The President appointed Uz Ali Shareef in accord with the powers granted to him under Article 158 (d) of the Maldivian Constitution and Section 3 Paragraph 4 of Law No. 2008/10.

Ali Shareef is the Chief Magistrate of Laamu Judicial Divison. He was appointed to the JSC today after having successfully won the election to represent lower courts in the JSC last month. He secured 127 votes to win in the election which had three more competitors.
