Transport Ministry has revealed that they are working to get the Maldivian driver’s license to be accepted internationally.

Speaking to the press, Deputy Minister Hidhaaya Naseer revealed that they have decided to participate at the 'Road Traffic Convention' in their works to make the Maldivian driver's license internationally acceptable.

She revealed that they are currently seeking the advise of Attorney General Ibrahim Riffath to participate in the convention and added that Maldivian licenses are not accepted internationally as of yet since the Maldives had not participated in it.

With the changes brought to Malaysian Road Transportation Law, the country put a ban on usage of a foreign driving licence last January.

The Maldivian Embassy in Malaysia revealed following this that Maldivians can still drive in Malaysia by obtaining a driving license through a driving school in Malaysia. Those with an international license can still continue so without any added hassle.
