Transport Ministry has revealed that traffic lights in Male City will be changed to LEDs this coming year, in a bid to ease the traffic problems in the city.

Traffic lights were first used in Male during the 2000’s. However due to high operational costs and congestion issues, the lights were put on an indefinite hiatus in 2016.

The Ministry revealed to One Online that they will change to LED lights once the existing stands are removed. They also added that spare parts are unavailable for the current lights which already come with a pretty high operational cost.

They also noted that the number of lights and their locations are yet to be decided.
