Attorney General Ibrahim Riffath has requested Maldives Police Service to arrest the two Police officers who were allegedly involved in the kidnapping and murder of Minivan News journalist, Ahmed Rilwan.

The AG made this request in a letter sent to Police on Thursday night.

Speaking to One Online, Riffath revealed that the letter had requested of three things from the Police.

As such, the AG requested Police to seek a court order from the Criminal Court to arrest Corporal Mohamed Jinah and Corporal Ibrahim Riffath who were the two intel officers who tried to obstruct the investigation. He explained the move by saying that he believes letting the two free would cause obstructions to the ongoing investigation.

Jinah and Riffath are the two officers who had allegedly met with the Immigration Controller in an attempt to forge Rilwan's passport after his abduction and murder. The investigative report also stated that the two officers had taken great amounts of bribe from former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb.

In addition to this, the letter requests to investigate three other police officers and an MNDF official who were also a part of the Rilwan case.
