Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has decided to investigate High Court Judge Hassan Ali, over the murder of Minivan News Journalist, Ahmed Rilwan.

In a statement released Wednesday, JSC revealed that they have decided to investigate a case involving Hassan Ali over the murder of Rilwan and that the issue has now been sent to the committee previously formed to investigate another case of the same judge.

However the commission did not reveal any further details of which case is currently being investigated.

Sources claim that Judge Ali is under investigation following serious allegations levied against him in the report compiled by the Presidential Commission tasked with investigating what happened to Rilwan.

With reference to a police statement given on 24 January 2016 by Judge Ali regarding Rilwan's case, the report states that while he was serving as the Immigration Controller, two police officers from the intelligence unit had met him in an attempt to forge Rilwan's passport.

The report further noted that Judge Ali had responded by saying that it would only be possible upon submitting an official document, to which the officers responded that it would not be possible to do so.

Back in July, JSC also revealed that they were investigating Judge Ali for allegedly campaigning for former President Abdulla Yameen during the Presidential Election in 2018. The commission formed a three member committee to investigate the issue.
