An agreement due to be signed between the governments of the Maldives and Sri Lanka next week will allow on arrival visa for 90 days for Maldivians visiting Sri Lanka and vice versa.

The agreement will be signed during the official visit of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to the Maldives from September 1 to September 4.

The Sri Lankan Cabinet this week approved the proposed agreement as well.

Director of Communications of the Foreign Ministry, Miuvan Mohamed revealed that during the visit three important agreements will be signed. These include agreements on youth development and social protection in addition to the agreement on provision of 90-day on arrival visa.

Currently Sri Lanka provides Maldivians with a 30-day on arrival visa.

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe is visiting the Maldives on an invitation extended by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, and is scheduled to address the Maldivian parliament.
