The Presidential Commission investigating deaths and disappearances has said two police officers linked to the former Vice President, Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Gafoor, went to the Department of Immigration to acquire a document that would show that the Minivan News journalist, Ahmed Rilwan, left the country.

The Commission made the statement at the ongoing press conference today.

The Commission revealed that two police officers working in Police Intelligence met with the Immigration Controller to acquire said document. The Commission also noted that the two police officers were also linked with Adeeb in other cases as well.

Even though the two officers went to obtain the document that would show that the Rilwan had left the country, Adeeb did not accompany them.

President of the Commission, Husnu Al-Suood revealed that due to the nature of the case, it was rather difficult to gather evidence. Several people had also refused to give statements due to the same reason.

Rilwan disappeared on August 8, 2014. Five years later, Police still have not been able to find out what exactly happened to the journalist. Those who were arrested and charged for the disappearance had also been set free due to neglect on the side of police.
