Hanimaadhoo Health Center has said that the five survivors of the speed boat capsizing incident yesterday have been released after treatment.
The vessel traveling out of Haa Dhaalu Nolhivaramfaru with ten people around 12:45 p.m. yesterday was capsized while attempting to enter the lagoon of Kadinma, south of Hanimaadhoo. Four of the five people that died in the incident belonged to the same family while the five survived with the captain.
The deceased are one of the elderly teachers of the Nolhivaramfaru School, Hussain Abdulla, 55, locally known as Bodu Teacher (Head Teacher) his wife, Mariyam Moosa, 48, their only daughter, Fathimath Gureisha Abdulla, 30 and her three-year-old daughter, Eera Hassan Shifaz. The family is from Unimaage, Nolhivaramfaru. The fifth is 51-year-old Aishath Ali, a neighbor of the Teacher.
The Hanimaadhoo Health Center told One Online that two of the five survivors were released last night and the other three were released this morning around 10:30 a.m. They are all in good health according to the Health Center.
The funeral for the deceased was held at 2 a.m. last night attended by a large group of people from Hanimaadhoo and Nolhivaramfaru at the Hanimaadhoo Mosque.
