Vice President Faisal Naseem has met with the members of Maafushi and Rathafandhoo Island Council this morning at the President’s Office.
During the meeting, the Council members discussed concerns raised by the island’s residents, as well as various development projects the council members have proposed for the benefit of their constituents.
The council members shed light on the most pertinent and urgent needs faced by residents of Maafushi, including the need to upgrade health services, harbour expansion, infrastructural development needed for the island school and the issues with waste disposal. In addition, the Councillors discussed ways to ensure the continuation of existing course programmes as well as starting new short-term training programmes.
The Vice President stated that necessary action will be taken after discussing with relevant line ministries to address the specific issues and concerns raised by members of the Maafushi Island Council. The Vice President also updated Councillors with the latest information on some of the major projects proposed for the development of the island.
During the meeting with Rathafandhoo Council, the Councillors discussed the priorities and concerns raised by the island’s residents, as well as various development projects the council members proposed for the benefit of their constituents.
Moreover, council members shed light on the most pertinent and urgent needs of residents of Rathafandhoo, including the need for shore protection revetment, upgrading healthcare facilities, infrastructural development needed for the Council Secretariat and the need for an ice plant.
The Vice President stated that the government would take necessary action after discussing with relevant line ministries and address the specific issues and concerns raised by members of the Rathafandhoo Island Council.
