Police on Thursday appealed to follow all and any safety measures that are put in place to protect passengers.
In a statement, Police urged not to load more than the permitted amount on cargo vessels and to make sure all safety procedures where in place and to check whether safety equipment were easily accessible on passenger vessels.
The statement further added to test all communication sets before beginning travel and to refrain from traveling during rough seas. They appealed to use life jackets in case of traveling during a period of rough seas and high winds.
While Police have appealed to follow safety procedures, Maldives MET Office has revealed that the country will be facing heavy winds and rough seas.
