Two young women has been arrested with drugs in a special operation conducted by the Alifu Dhaalu Atoll Maamigili Police Station.

Maldives Police Service said that they arrested two local women of 23 years of age in an operation conducted following an intelligence report about drugs being smuggled on a speed launch coming to the island from Male' City.

When the two women were stopped at the Maamigili harbour, taken into custody and searched, police found two packets of suspected drugs were found inside a bag they were carrying.

Police are investigating further.
