Minister of Home Affairs, Imran Abdulla could not appear at the parliament today due to illness to respond to the questions from the MP for Kaashidhoo constituency, Abdulla Jabir, regarding the changes made to prevent another incident which followed the resignation of the former President Mohamed Nasheed in 2012.
Starting the parliament sitting on Monday, Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed announced that first on the agenda was questioning Home Minister Imran Abdulla by Kaashidhoo MP Abdulla Jabir. However, he noted that the Minister had informed the parliament through a letter that he will not be able to attend the sitting due to illness.
Speaker Nasheed had wished the Minister a speedy recovery and expressed his hopes that the Minister will attend a sitting once he was well.
The question submitted by MP Jabir seeks to know the changes made to the Police to prevent a police mutiny like February 6, and the security measures that have since been taken in police buildings after the events that escalated to President Nasheed eventually resigning.
