An awareness program on the actions to follow once a person learns a crime is going to be committed has been conducted at the Vaavu Atoll School in Fulidhoo.
The program was led by the branch of the Gender Ministry in the Vaavu Atoll in cooperation with the Crime Prevention and Public Affairs of the Maldives Police Service, Vaavu Atoll Police and the Vaavu Atoll School.
Maldives Police Service said that the three-day program began on 22 August were aimed at students, parents and teachers.
The importance of protecting the rights of children were highlighted at the sessions for the Grades 6 through 10, along with how to ensure those rights are protected.
At the sessions for the teachers, there were reminded of their duty to be a role model for the students and noted the importance of equal treatment of students and stepping in to resolve issues among them.
The program also touched on how to strengthen the bond between children and their parents.
