The convention center developed in AA. Ukulhas by the government has been handed over to the island council.

The center constructed by Amin Construction under the eye of Ministry of Planning was handed over to the council during a special ceremony held at the council today.

Planning Minister Mohamed Aslam signed on the documents on behalf of the government while Ukulhas Council President Shaukath Ibrahim signed on behalf of the island council.

Speaking during the ceremony, Minister Aslam noted that the project was one which has been completed at the earliest so far. He noted that the convention center will be of many uses in the future for Ukulhas.

Ukulhas Council President Shaukath also highlighted that the completion of the project within 29 days of signing the initial agreement reveals just how fast the speed of development is in this government. Works on the convention center was handed over on July 25.

The convention center consists of a multipurpose hall, meeting room, VIP meeting room, two classrooms, admin office, a waiting area in addition to eight toilets. The center which can accomodate 400 people also includes a cafeteria.

MVR 20.8 million was spent on the project, out of which MVR 7.8 million were a grant provided by the Indian government.
