Parliament on Wednesday approved to shift NSPA services from Health Ministry to the Gender Ministry.

The motion was passed with the votes of 70 members who were present at the session out of 71.

The government filed the motion, through the MP for Manadhoo constituency, Ahmed Haroon, as an amendment to the Social Health Insurance Act in reference to Article 42.

Article 42 currently states that NSPA must exist to run a national social health insurance and it will be run under the Minister in charge of the Health Sector.

The amendment is to change the responsibility of the insurance from the Health Minister to a government institute in charge for social services policy.
