Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has begun a probe into the case which alleges that MVR 37 million were deposited to the bank account of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih by former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb.
The case is being investigated on an initiative by the commission itself. Recently the case was also reported by local media and debated on social media as well.
Vice President of ACC, Aminath Minna revealed to One Online that the commission had handed over to verify documents regarding the allegation before probing the case further. She noted the allegation was about a cash exchange due to which there weren’t much that could be verified.
She highlighted that the committee has now been tasked with investigating the case further.
A second case at the ACC alleges that 4.2 million Euros were deposited to the bank account of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, however the ACC is yet to decide to investigate the case.
The President’s Office have however denied both of the allegations.
