Ministry of Finance and Treasury has presented the government’s Supplementary Budget to the parliament.

The budget was presented after some MPs have said that it will be presented to the parliament this week.

The government decided to present a Supplementary Budget to allow for payments from the state budget for fines decided by courts and other payments more than as a contingency plan.

And the purpose of such a budget also seeks to start the major projects promised during the election according to the government.

A Supplementary Budget has been proposed after an Annual State Budget of MVR 30.2 billion was passed by the parliament.

The government said that they proposed it not because they ran out of budget and so far, MVR 14.7 billion has been spent from the State Budget.
