Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday signed to provide financial aid to three islands, to conduct projects that will benefit the community.
During a ceremony held at the Ministry, State Minister Ali Nazeer signed the agreements of financial assistance with R. Angolhitheem Council, R. Kinolhas Council and HDh. Vaikaradhoo Council.
Under the agreements, the Ministry will finance MVR 295,500 for street light installation out of the total cost of MVR 475,800. In Kinolhas, the Ministry will finance MVR 298,853 for the development of the phase two of 'Bathoothaa Manzil', which is a community park. The Kinolhas Council will spend an additional MVR 180,000 on the project.
For Vaikaradhoo, the Ministry will finance MVR 300,000 for the construction of an outer wall for the island's cemetery. The island council will spend an additional MVR 55,540 by themselves on the project.
In addition to this, the ministry has also decided finance such projects in 17 islands. With the signing of three islands today, the Ministry will be providing assistance to a total of 10 islands.
