Opposition Dhivehi Raayithunge Party (DRP) has revealed that they are currently working to launch a TV channel.
In a tweet sent out on Tuesday, DRP noted that the channel is being initiated by their leader, Kaashidhoo MP Abdulla Jabir. The aim of the channel, according to DRP, will be to report and broadcast news free from any and all sorts of influences.
However, the party did not reveal the name or the launch date for the channel.
Jabir had previously highlighted that DRP will be represented in the parliament very soon and asserted that many members will soon join the party. As such, he revealed that about seven members including him wanted to work with DRP and added that they all are welcome.
The party had been holding activities to increase the number of members they have since Jabir assumed leadership of the party.
According to Jabir, their aim is to reach a total of 80,000 members.
