Maldives Customs Service has seized 1.43kg of drugs that were being smuggled into the Maldives.
Customs revealed that a 25 year old Maldivian male, who was flying to the Maldives from India's Trivandrum was searched due to the suspicious nature of the man's actions. Upon a search of his luggage two types of drugs were discovered, which were later confirmed to be heroine and cocaine.
They had seized around 1.095 kilos of heroine and 0.333 kilos of cocaine from him, of which the street values add up to MVR 766,500 and MVR 1,165,000 respectively. While a total of about 1.43kg of drugs were confiscated, their street value in total adds upto MVR 1.93 million.
Maldives Police Service is currently investigating the case further.
