A Maldivian woman has revealed that she is competing for the Council Election of Hutt City in New Zealand.

Shazly Rasheed who is currently residing in the New Zealand made the announcement through a Facebook post.

"I am really excited to announce I am standing for Hutt City Council, City wide Councillor. I love the Hutt as a city to raise a family, start a business and enjoy the great outdoors," Shazly said in her post.

Explaining her vision, she said that it is for a thriving city where businesses want to invest and create job opportunities.

She wants Lower Hutt to be safe, friendly and inclusive, the best place to bring up families and run a business.
