Although the ties between Maldives and India dwindled during the Presidency of Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, it has been improving since President Solih came to power.
Since taking office in November 2018, President Solih has made two official visits to India while the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, too, has made two visits to the Maldives.
Prime Minister’s first visit to the Maldives was to take part in the inauguration of President Solih in November. His second visit was after winning the Indian election.
