A team of journalists from the United States have arrived in Maldives on a familiarization trip organized by Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation.
This is the fifth group of Journalists visiting Maldives through the series of FAM Trips organized by MMPRC to promote tourism in Maldives. Previously, media teams from India, UK, South Korea and China had visited the Maldives.
The purpose of this team of Journalists is to promote Maldives as a tourist destination via social media posts and articles to the US. The team includes journalists from Travel + Leisure, Trip Savvy, National Geographic Travel, USA Today and The New York Times.
The team will be staying in Maldives till next Sunday. During their trip, they will be visiting Heritance Aarah and Mercure Maldives Kooddoo Resort, according to MMPRC.
The US remains as the eight biggest tourist market to the Maldives. By June of 2019, 68,000 tourists had visited the Maldives from the US. This also marks a 34% increase in comparison to the same period last year.
