Drivers Association has submitted to the Civil Court to postpone enforcing the new taxi guidelines, which have also set new taxi fares for rides within the Male' region.

President of the Driver Association, Abdulla Ibrahim revealed to One Online on Tuesday that they have submitted to the Civil Court to seek an order to postpone enforcing the new guidelines.

With the new guideline, Taxis in the region will have to charge MVR 60 per ride from Male' to Hulhule' and Hulhumale' to Hulhule'. MVR 75 was set as the fair for rides between Male' and Hulhumale'. No extra charges are set for luggage.

In addition to this, three taxi apps have been permitted to be used by drivers and taxi permits are now being given out to those who own private cars as well.

Police confirmed on Tuesday that they have begun an operation to take action against drivers who violate the recent revision to the taxi guidelines.

In the operation, Police will check whether drivers are abiding by the recent revision to the taxi guideline, whether the cars are in accordance to road worthiness and whether the cars are older than 20 years from the date of manufacture.
