Speaker of Parliament, Mohamed Nasheed has submitted a revision to the Standing Order of Parliament to form a committee which will focus on appointment members to independent institutions as well as judges.

While submitting the revision, Nasheed said that it was his aim to include as much participation of the Parliament as possible when appointing and removing people from independent institutions.

Hinting at the Parliament Committee on Independent Institutions who are currently tasked with doing the deed, Nasheed noted that holding institutions accountable and appointing people to those institutions are very different works,.

He added that he does not wish the appointment and removal of people to these institutions to involve just the members of MDP.

He expressed his hope of creating a committee which includes the 17 heads of committees and political leaders.
