Head of Parliament Committee on Independent Institutions, Rozaina Adam has revealed that Speaker of Parliament, Mohamed Nasheed has been considering to bring changes to the parliament standing order, which will create a special committee to appoint and remove people from Independent Institutions.

During the committee meeting on Monday, interviews were conducted with those whose name were submitted by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih to be appointed as the Information Commissioner.

Rozaina had shared the Speaker's view of creating a special committee to appoint and remove people from Independent Institutions with the members of the committee.

She further noted that a decision on this will be taken after discussions within MDP PG Group, followed by the submission of it to the parliament. As of now, any and all works concerning the appointment of new members and removal of existing members of an independent institution are carried out by the Parliament Committee on Independent Institutions.

From the names submitted to the Parliament by the President, five are notable names. These are;

1. Hussain Fiyaz Mossa

2. Ahmed Fayaz

3. Ahmed Aahidh Rasheed

4. Fathimath Sausan

Five other names were also submitted to the parliament for the position.
