Supreme Court has scheduled a preliminary hearing in the corruption case against the former Vice President, Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Gafoor, for tomorrow.

The hearing is set for 10:15 a.m. tomorrow.

The case in question for the hearing is the embezzlement of US 5 million (MVR 77 million) by Adeeb that should go to the state as acquisition fee from Kurehdhoo Holdings for leasing Lhaviyani Atoll Maabinhura to them.

The case initially resulted in an eight-year prison sentence on Adeeb from the Criminal Court in 2016. However, when the case was appealed at the High Court, Criminal Court was ordered to do a re-trial.

The state appealed the case at the Supreme Court after the Criminal Court failed to do a re-trial as per the High Court ruling.
