Minister of Home Affairs, Imran Abdulla has said that people will not believe that he would stoop to the level where he would threaten somebody on the streets.

The Minister's statement comes after former President of ACC, Hassan Luthufee had claimed on Sangu TV that he was threatened to be arrested and framed by the Minister. Minister Imran responded with the statement through a tweet on Sunday.

In his tweet, he said that he was rather shocked to know that someone will think that Maldivians would believe that he was the kind of person to threaten someone on the streets or frame them for false crimes.

In an interview to Sangu TV, Luthufee had revealed that he had not reported the threats to any authorities and added that he does not believe that doing so would bring any benefits. Luthufee had also accused Minister Imran of threatening former President Abdulla Yameen and former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb, saying that they should be in jail for the MMPRC corruption scandal.

While Police is investigating a money laundering case involving Luthufee, he had resigned from his post at the ACC after having taken a leave in April and failing to come to work afterwards.
