Disagreements have allegedly turned to physical during a meeting of the Alifu Dhaalu Fenfushi Island Council inciting a brawl among the Councilors.

Talking to One Online last night, the Vice President of the Fenfushi Island Council, Moosa Ali said that he was not informed of the Council meeting with the people of the island last night. Noting that the meeting last night was initially set for 31 July, Councilor Moosa said that the Council have failed to host regular meetings.

Moosa Ali said that when he got to the meeting, there were only four people from the island at the meeting. And when the question was asked of the President of the Council, Shahid Abdul Raheem, why he was not informed and told the Council President that all Councilors must be notified for a meeting with the public; which heated the situation.

Councilor Moosa said that he was recording a video of the situation with his phone at the time. And after dismissing the four members of the public at the meeting, the Council President asked to delete the video and he refused to do so.

Moosa said that he was leaving the venue when the brother of Councilor Mohamed Ibrahim obstructed him and Councilor Mohamed Ibrahim grabbed him by the throat.

Councilor Moosa said that the incident took place around 10 p.m. last night and it has been reported to the police.

As the Police Media Officer is not responding to their phone, there have been no comment from the police regarding the situation.

Fenfushi Councilor, Mohamed Ibrahim told One Online that words got heated between the President and the Vice President of the Council and he is not aware if the situation go physical.

The President of the Fenfushi Council, Shahid Abdul Raheem told One Online that a he is not aware if the situation got physical but a small disagreement took place after the meeting last night. He also said that despite Councilor Moosa Ali’s reservation about not being informed, Councilors are informed of all council meetings.

Councilor Shahid said that the meeting last night was set to present the 2020 budget to the people. And meetings have been irregular due to administrative issues along with some staff members being on leave and are not attending because they are ill.
