Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has set the taxi fares fro rides from Male' to Hulhule' and Male' to Hulhumale'.

In a statement issued by the Ministry, they noted that they have decided to switch taxi services completely to online applications after having sought public opinion on the matter along with discussions between taxi centers and taxi drivers, following complaints which claimed that the taxi fares were unreasonably high in the region.

The Ministry has now set up taxi fares, which come to effect starting August 7th. Following this, it would become illegal to charge fares higher than this.

Taxi Fares in Male' Area:

- Male' - Hulhule': MVR 60

- Hulhule' - Male': MVR 60

- Hulhumale' - Hulhule': MVR 60

- Hulhule' - Hulhumale': MVR 60

- Hulhumale' - Male': MVR 75

- Male' - Hulhumale': MVR 75

Even though special fares have been set for rides between Male', Hulhule' and Hulhumale', rides within said cities will still remain the same at MVR 25.

With the new law being put into affect, taxis will be forced to provide their services through one of the apps that have been introduced for the purpose. These apps are: Avas Ride, Pick Me Sri Lanka and E'aee.

In addition to this, even Taxi centers are expected to be registered on one of these apps to provide their services.
